Midsummer aka Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year. It is filled with ring dancing, weaving flowers into wreaths, and singing around a maypole. Swedes, both young and old, gather around the maypole to dance and revel around it. As the legend goes, on this magical midsummer night, your significant other would appear in your dream. Only if you have the requisite number of different flowers under your pillow though or to quench your thirst if you have had a bowl of salted porridge. As a Swedish verse goes, "Midsummer night is not long but it sets many cradles to rock.”
